Welcome to Meltdown: Lessons Learned in IR.
The 2013 edition is the fourth Meltdown but this year’s edition is unique: only Northwestern IR alumni are invited to attend. Alumni are also allowed to sponsor their practice partners to attend the meeting. Meltdown will be held on September 27-28, 2013 at the McGaw Pavilion (Room 1-401) on our Chicago campus.
This year’s program will be similar to previous years: complication cases presented by Northwestern IR faculty open to discussion with plenty of audience participation. This format allows for free exchange of ideas amongst all participants- it is a unique and high-yield educational opportunity.
Attendance at Meltdown will earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. There will be NO corporate sponsorship of this event.
On Friday, after completion of the day’s program, a reception will be held at 41 E. Superior Street from 6PM-8PM for attendees to get together and get caught up.
There are several hotels convenient to NMH that offer a discounted rate. Ask for the Northwestern rate when you call to make your reservation. For more information and a list of hotels, please click here.
One of the goals of Meltdown is to support the Albert A. Nemcek, Jr. Endowed Professorship of Interventional Radiology. I strongly encourage you to donate in honor of Al as well as support the meeting. Here are suggested donation guidelines: if you graduated from the fellowship after 2009, please donate at least $500. If you graduated prior to 2010, please donate at least $1000. Your sponsored practice partners should adhere to the same guidelines.
Your contributions are fully tax deductible. Cash is great, but consider donating appreciated assets or stocks (thereby avoiding capital gains taxes, but getting full deductibility of your appreciated asset). Consult your tax advisor if needed. Contributions can be made directly on our website or by contacting Ross Crampton in the Development & Alumni Relations office.
Meltdown is going to be a “win-win-win-win-win situation”: help support Al’s professorship, get a tax deduction, attend a unique and highly educational course, earn lots of CME, and visit Chicago to reconnect with your Northwestern IR roots.
Thanks for your support and I hope to see you there.
