How to Apply
The Diagnostic Radiology Residency program at Northwestern is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Residents may enter the program after completing medical school (MD/DO) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian college and one post-graduate year of clinical training in an ACGME- or RCPSC-accredited internal medicine or surgery program. The clinical year may also include a transitional year accredited by the ACGME.
There are 10 PGY2 positions available for match starting July 2026. Our interviews will take place in November and December 2024.

The Department of Radiology participates in the National Residency Matching Program. Applications for residency are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Applications can be submitted via ERAS starting in September 2024.
Interview Day
Following initial evaluation of the applications by our review committee, individuals are offered formal virtual interviews. All invitations and interview day correspondence will be sent via email. Interviews for the 2024-2025 interview season will be virtual and are by appointment only.
You will be interviewed by members of the department, including program directors and a chief resident. The day will also include presentations by several faculty members. The purpose of these brief presentations is to provide an overview of our clinical, teaching, and research programs from the perspective of several key members of our faculty.
If there are specific individuals or features in our program that you would like to speak with or know about, please let us know in advance. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request.
Diversity & Inclusion
The Department of Radiology strives to create and maintain training programs that mirror the diverse patient population we serve in Chicago. We believe that diverse faculty, residency and fellowship programs are essential to our long-term success as leaders in academic medicine. As such, we embrace diversity as part of our commitment to excellence in our mission areas of patient care, research and education. The Department of Radiology strongly encourages applications from candidates from groups traditionally underrepresented in medicine. Please read more about the Department of Radiology's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion council and their work here: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
